Selfie goes wrong! Valuable paintings got damaged as the wall collapsed

We have seen selfies go wrong many times before. People will do the craziest things to get the ‘perfect’ selfie. This often causes accidents, in which mostly the selfie-takers get hurt. But this accident is a little bit different. In the International Arts Center in Russia, a visitor ruined the two works of artists: Salvador Dalí and Francisco Goya while trying to take a selfie.

The museum reported that three women in the museum did not behave as they should. One of them accidently touched a wall while taking pictures. The wall was apparently not that stable, because it immediately fell over, crashed to the ground and caused the damage of two paintings. Both paintings are going to be examined by experts to determine the damage and the potential restauration. The first painting is by Francisco Goya, a Spanish romantic painter. Luckily only the frame of the painting suffered some damage, and the painting is still intact. The second painting, which was destroyed most, is the painting by Salvador Dalí, a Spanish surrealist painter. Not only did the frame break, but also the painting got damaged.

Judging from the surveillance camera footage, the construction was very unstable and it was only a matter of time before it would fall. Therefore, many people think the women are not to be blamed for this accident. Find the video here and see for yourself. In the video you see a woman standing behind the wall, probably to take a picture with paintings on the background. She looks shocked when the wall falls down. Luckily for the women, the museum has decided not to open a criminal case against them.

The International Arts Center Main Avenue exhibition is still open for visitors, they only have to miss the two paintings that were involved in the accident.
